JOHN L. KACHELMAN, JR.: The Destruction of Our National Foundation

The Destruction of Our National Foundation

Guest post by John L. Kachelman, Jr.

Emerson’s “A Nation’s Strength” speaks to the citizens of the USA today…

What makes a nation’s pillars high, and its foundations strong?

What makes it mighty to defy, the foes that round it throng?

Not gold but only men can make a people great and strong;

Men who for truth and honor’s sake stand fast and suffer long.

Brave men who work while others sleep, who dare while others fly…

They build a nation’s pillars deep and lift them to the sky.

THE HISTORIC FOUNDATION DEFINED

Emerson’s poem is reflective and inspirational. It aptly identifies the true sources of a nation’s power and permanency. National strength is not found neither in gold, weapons nor pride. National greatness is found in the collective character of its people. It is a character devoted to fidelity, truth and common sense that builds a nation’s pillars deep and high, securing permanency for its foundations. National greatness is an effort arising from the shared responsibility of the citizens as they build and sustain a nation. But just as national greatness arises from the citizens acting responsibly, a crumbling of the nation’s foundation results when the citizens surrender their responsibilities to maintain the foundations!

True national strength is found neither in the government’s onerous regulations nor in the delusions of leaders thinking they can blithely dismiss historic foundations.

THE HISTORIC FOUNDATION OF THE USA

The historic foundation of the United States of America is the consequence of providential governing that masterfully brought together western concepts from Greek philosophy, Roman governing, and Judeo-Christian principles. There was a historic repudiation of any eastern concepts as the east emphasizes subservience to a personality over citizen assent to rational principles. A simplified contrast, that is sure to ignite ire, is that the western philosophy is cognitive while the eastern philosophy is emotional.

A significant influence, that is an intriguing study, is John Locke. Critical to our national foundation in Locke’s concept of “civic virtue.” Several elements in the Constitution reflect this concept. Our Constitution established a republican form of government, as opposed to a direct democracy.

High School civics once taught that democracy is a rule by passion and emotion but the republican form is a system of representation (those whining about “democracy” today only reveal their total ignorance of the governing system established by the Constitution!).

Under republicanism, Lawmakers, elected by the people, are expected to act as the delegates of the electorate. They are elected to exercise judgment and foresight for the public good. Never are they to initiate, stimulate, or legislate contrary to the public’s good!

The system of “checks and balances” between the three branches of our government is a providential safeguard against corruption and the concentration of power.

The President, Politicians and Judiciary are expected to exemplify transparency and accountability. Those in positions of authority are answerable to the people and should be mindful of their duty to serve the public interest rather than personal ambition fostered by an elitest delusion.

This critical “civic virtue” is underscored in the Preamble to the Constitution, which begins with “We the People.” The governing is not dictated by a select few who think they are above the law and elite among society. The collective responsibility of citizens must uphold the principles and values of their government and hold those in violation accountable.

A measured retribution as the penalty for violating “We the People,” is reasoned, expected and a “just retribution.” The foundation of the USA, as a representative republican republic, is sustained only as the citizenry enforces the ethical and civic commitment of its people.

IF “We the People” fail to uphold the ethical and civil principles critical to the governing, THEN the foundation of our Republic crumbles and our nation joins other historic fails in the dustbins of history’s past. This is an undeniable fact.

THE HISTORIC FOUNDATION SHAKING DOCUMENTED

History tragically chronicles how great Empires inevitably flail and fall. Their once unconquerable prowess is first compromised, then marginalized and finally erased. Failed nations are a footnote in civilization’s chronicles. A casual reading of recent articles reveals that the foundation of our nation is being shaken. Here is a quick list and the reader can multiply it many times…

Mike LaChance, “If New York City elects Zohran Mamdani it will be a disaster for the city and the country.”
Katie Gibson blasphemously criticized the legal authority of parents, saying, “If you are born into a home headed by a Christian fundamentalist tyrant, you have the rights that that Christian fundamentalist tyrant gives you.” She also drew a comparison to President Donald Trump as a tyrant for children under state care.
Senator Elizabeth Warren embraces the communist message of NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Warren is part of the Bernie Sanders/AOC wing of the Democrat party, which aligns perfectly with Mamdani’s destructive views. Warren says that Mamdani is offering solutions for people in New York City and that “this is the Democratic (Party’s) message.”
Joe Hoft, “REMINDER: Immediately After President Trump Won the Election Obama Began Pushing Russia Collusion Knowing He Was Lying.” The Russian collusion plot is flagrant treason manipulating insurrection against our Constitution.
Stephen A. Smith SLAMS Zohran Mamdani and the Radical Democrat Wing: “Either the Party Ends, or the United States Ends.” Smith warns of the existential threat that socialist ideas pose to the future of the United States. Smith sees the current Democrat Party as launching “an assault on the very core of American liberty.”
“Zohran Mamdani, Democratic Candidate for NYC Mayor, Questions the Purpose of Prisons: The Progressive Experiment Endangering Public Safety.” Mamdani mocks crime victims with a flippant, condescending tone. This reflects the dangerous trend among Democrats to prioritize ideology over reality. This postmodern ideology—which paints criminals as victims and law enforcement as systemic oppressors—has infiltrated the Democratic Party. Aptly said is, “Questioning the USDOJ’s very existence through a utopian lens is not leadership—it is negligence.”
“Communist New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani now has competition for the title of most dangerous (Democrat) local politician running for elective office.” 35-year-old Minnesota Democratic State Senator Omar Fateh, a Muslimand son of Somali migrants is a candidate for mayor of Minneapolis. He plans to remove the individualism and exceptionalism that made the USA a great nation with State control thus suffocating initiative and productivity. Displaying true allegiance to socialism, his goal is to “diversify public safety response” and invest more money in social workers.
“Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, was quick to endorse radical communist Zohran Mamdani for mayor after Zohran’s win in the Democrat Party Primary.” At first Democrats were reluctant to support Mamdani, then a few spoke out, then more and more, and now all democrats are standing in line to “carry water” for him!
Joe Hoft, “The Difference Between Good and Evil—Tina Peters and Those Who Imprisoned Her.”

In an article titled, “God Establishes Foundations—Humanity Dismantles Them,” incisive observations analyze the endangered foundations of our nation. “When a foundation crumbles, everything on it must fall. We’ve redefined foundations until the map of morality is unreadable. America is not just in political trouble. It is in foundational trouble.” The article explores three foundations that are now shaking and making our nation’s existence tenuous: Foundation One: “Marriage — Sacred Becomes Optional”; Foundation Two: “Parenting — Authority Replaced by Approval”; and, Foundation Three: “Parenting — Authority Replaced by Approval.” The article focuses on attacks to the civility that made the United States of America the greatest nation in civilization.

THE HISTORIC FOUNDATION SHAKING REDUNDANCY

The tenuous position of the USA is not unique in nations histories. The narrative is redundant. Should the USA think it is exempt from erasure? The present situation was framed by these words from long-ago, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (The Bible, Psalms 11:3). It is interesting to consider the term “destroyed.” This comes from an ancient root word meaning, “to tear down in pieces.” The foundations are destroyed not by one instant action but piece-by-piece!

The destruction of our great nation will occur not in an instant, but little-by-little as the foundations are chipped away and eventually crumble. It describes a national pathway into oblivion, not instantly but little-by-little!

The Psalmist’s perplexity is answered. Even though the foundations are being destroyed, “The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes see…His soul hates one who loves violence. He will rain coals of fire upon the wicked, and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup. For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; the upright will see His face.”

The answer to a nation’s shaking foundation is an implicit trust in the Almighty Jehovah God of heaven coupled with visible actions demanding the enforcement of the foundational Constitutional law! Let justice deal retribution to those seeking to destroy our nation’s foundations! There is neither justification nor rationalization nor amnesty for those violating our national foundational law.

Returning to Emmerson’s poem…When a nation’s foundation crumbles, law and order will disappear. A lack of enforcement of civil law causes a spiraling societal chaos and moral decline.

When a nation’s foundations crumble, citizens must take action. National greatness is reclaimed by returning to the core foundational values, by the nation seeking spiritual guidance from the One in His Holy Temple, and citizens personally engaging in community efforts to uphold the Constitutional Law. By doing these things the citizens follow the principles of our Constitution and rebuild our weakened society with the strength that made the USA the greatest nation ever to exist in civilization’s history.

The survival of our nation depends upon every citizen joining together to defend the Constitutional foundations being shaken by evil in our present time.

As Emerson observed: “It is not gold…not the sword…not the pride…but only men can make a people great and strong; men who for truth and honor’s sake stand fast and suffer long. Brave men who work while others sleep…they build a nation’s pillars deep and lift them to the sky.”
