I was unsure how to start this article as I stared at the blank page and blinking cursor. I want to celebrate Bart Shively and let you all know the awesome life this man led. He was a friend to many and a man whom people looked up to, literally and figuratively. I was trying to navigate between my sadness at losing a dear friend and my anger at why this happened to him [without any accountability]. So, I am just going to start typing…
I only got to know him three years ago when I interviewed him for my podcast. I was just starting to interview the J6ers that were being held hostage in the DC Gulag. This is when I learned that Bart had stage 2 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was diagnosed with this form of cancer after he served as a Marine and was stationed at Camp LeJeune.
We have all seen those commercials advertising legal help, something like, “if you or a loved one drank the water at Camp LeJeune and was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, call us…” Bart is one of those who had this happen to him.
At Stage 2, Bart had been receiving treatment through the VA until he was arrested for January 6th. He was left in his cell without his medication or any form of help with the illness he had. Both the DC Gulag and the VA have been criticized for inadequate healthcare, and hopefully, they will both be held accountable.
Over the two years that Bart languished in the Gulag, he worsened physically as the cancer began to spread. He was continually denied treatment for his cancer, as other J6ers had also been denied treatment for their ailments. In the last few months of his incarceration, the VA and the DC Gulag began to “treat” him for the cancer. Now at Stage 4, the treatment was radiation.
The reports from the other inmates were harrowing of what they witnessed of how Bart’s so-called treatment was going. He would come back from the VA, and he would endure the suffering inside of his cold cement cell. His blood and fluid seeping from his pores soaking all his clothes, bedding and towels and smelling of rot. They had 5 treatments scheduled for him, but he only did four due to them over radiating him. They appeared to be frying him from the inside out either as punishment, incompetency or both.
In June 2023, Bart had his sentencing for January 6th after he decided to take a plea deal, his judge made a statement that was stunning. She would release Bart to go home because she “didn’t want his death on her hands”. Judge Jia Cobb found it in her tiny little Grinch heart to give Bart his freedom.
August 18th, 2023, Bart was released from the DC Gulag. His dear friend, fellow Veteran (Army) and J6 Advocate Sherri “Sapphire Patriot” picked Bart up outside the front of the jail, surrounded by other J6 supporters, and she drove him to his new home in Pennsylvania. He was able to procure himself, through J6 advocates and organizations, a nice single trailer to call home.

Back in 2022, when Bart was arrested and put into the DC Gulag, he had to leave everything behind. This included his dogs. Both dogs were trained service dogs, and he was devastated to have to give them away. One of the dogs died a week later and Bart’s friend who had taken her broke the news to Bart, that she died of a broken heart. She wouldn’t eat or play and only wanted her human dad. This made his time in jail even that much harder.
However, once Bart returned to Pennsylvania and settled into his new home, he got a surprise at his door. Two little German Shepherd puppies that he would love and care for until his last days. They were his everything. Marie Goodwyn of J6 Patriot News, The Gulag Chronicles and Patriot Mail Project had this to say about Bart.
“I first began corresponding with Bart through phone messages after he was released from the DC Gulag. During that time, he had gotten two dogs whom he lovingly referred to as ‘my little babies.’ He would often say, ‘They are very adorable!’ and you could hear the joy they brought him in every message. Bart was battling the VA for medical treatment, but he didn’t want to leave his dogs behind, not even for a moment. We talked often about his health and many other things. He especially rejoiced J6ers had been set free. Bart was a kind and gentle soul. I will never forget him or the strength and compassion he carried. He was a true hero. Now he is with his Lord, rejoicing for eternity.”

Bart received his pardon a year and a half after he was released from the dregs of the DC Gulag. In that time, Bart spent it waiting for treatment from the VA. When they finally had an appointment available, it would be a month or two in the future and consist of more tests and more waiting. When he thought he had a chance for recovery with stem cell replacement therapy, he was denied, because his body had deteriorated and had been so destroyed by the chemo and radiation that he was no longer a viable candidate for the treatment. He was essentially handed a death sentence, and now The Biden Regime, the DOJ, FBI, the libtard extremists etc. etc. finally got another pound of flesh.
I reached out to some of the men who spent time with Bart in the Gulag as well as some of his supporters. Here is what they had to say…
“Bart Shively was my Brother in the Marines and January 6th. To me he was so much more Truly a figure of Courage, Faith, Humility, and True American Patriotism. Bart was Larger than life and it was my Honer to know him. Bart Blessed so many of us with his humor and True Love for his Country. My only Prayer in life is that I am Half the man that Bart Shively was and will always be. Thank you, Brother for Blessing, me with your Friendship.”
“[Bart] was a true patriot and an anointed warrior for Christ; I am reflecting on the countless moments Bart led us in prayer from solitary confinement. Although this is a sad day here on earth, I know that all of Heaven is certainly rejoicing. Bart Shively was a man of honor, faith, and courage, and his death will not be in vain. He now joins the ranks of saints and soldiers whose voices cannot be silenced by the corrupt political machinery of Washington. Rest in heavenly peace, Bart. You’ve earned your eternal freedom.” – Isaac Thomas
“I had the Honor to visit Bart while he was incarcerated. Being a Marine, who got cancer from the Military, he became someone that I advocated very strongly for. After taking him home from jail, I kept in touch with him as we became close friends. I was Honored to be there for him in his final days, and he will forever be MY AMERICAN HERO!” – Sherri “Sapphire Patriot”
While Bart had quite a few visitors in his last days and many more who wanted to visit, there was a visit that was very special. J6er Shane Jenkins, who did a great deal to help during this time, made sure he was able to present Bart with the Platinum Album that came from the #1 Billboard Award song “Justice For All”.
Today, I stood with my brother, Bart Shively, a Marine Corps veteran and January 6th defendant, to present him with his Billboard Platinum Plaque for his powerful voice on Justice for All—the song that hit #1 on iTunes and Billboard, carrying the heart of J6ers. Platinum Album presented to Bart by Shane Jenkins.
Ryan Nichols who also visited Bart during his last weeks and days was with him when the presentation from Shane took place. He posted this:
BART SHIVELY: J6ER #7 KILLED BY BIDEN DOJ
Make no mistake—Bart Shively, Marine vet and pardoned J6er, is another J6er killed by Biden DOJ neglect, dying of stage 4 cancer from denied chemo tied to Camp LeJeune water.

There were many people, J6ers and supporters, who reached out to Bart in his last weeks and days. Too many to name here but they were there, or they called and made sure that Bart knew he was loved and that he was a hero in many ways.
The circumstances that surround Bart’s death are that of pure evil. Bart served our country and was much more than I’ve been able to write about here. He was a man of God and loved all the people in his life. He was surrounded by love and prayers and never asked for more than that. His life is one to be mourned and one that we need to lift up and make people aware of.
Bart Shively was a Marine, he was a January 6th Political Hostage, he was a Warrior for God and Country, he was a friend to everyone. He will be missed by many who knew him and those who came to know him.
Our dear Friend and Brother has gone on to heaven.
We love you Bart . Thank you for your service to this great country. pic.twitter.com/IBKxZ4FMa8

As I wrap up this story, I know I could continue to write more and more about our friend Bart. I know there are a plethora of directions I could go to share more. I know that there are more stories from a great deal more people. Bart was much more than his death and his cancer. He was much more than his military service. He was much more than J6. He was so much more, and now he is our Angel.
Please keep Bart’s friends and those that loved him in your prayers.
