President Trump dropped his controversial pick for Surgeon General today and nominated one far more palatable to MAGA Nation.
As TGP readers know, Trump’s previous nominee for Surgeon General, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, sparked a significant controversy among conservatives due to her previous public endorsements of COVID-19 vaccinations and mask mandates. Critics highlighted Nesheiwat’s comments during the pandemic, where she strongly endorsed COVID-19 vaccines, masking protocols, and even praised social media censorship of vaccine skeptics.
She even championed booster shots and backed policies like double-masking and vaccinating children, citing studies and data from the CDC.
Worse, Nesheiwat was linked in a tragic accident at the age of 13 that resulted in her father’s death. At just 13 years old, Nesheiwat accidentally shot and killed her father in their Orlando home, according to a report by the far-left New York Times.
The 1990 incident, described in a police report, was ruled an accidental shooting. According to the report, the young Nesheiwat was searching for scissors in her father’s bedroom when she accidentally tipped over a fishing tackle box, causing a loaded .38-caliber handgun to discharge.
The bullet struck her sleeping father, Ziad “Ben” Nesheiwat, in the head, and he died the next day.
Nesheiwat is also the sister in law to Mike Waltz.
Perhaps in light of her controversial past, Trump announced that he would no longer nominate Nesheiwat. Instead, he is picking Dr. Casey Means as the next Surgeon General, citing her “impeccable MAHA credentials.”
Trump also revealed that Nesheiwat would work in another capacity at HHS with Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr..
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Casey Means, will be nominated as our next Surgeon General of the United States of America,” Trump wrote. “Casey has impeccable “MAHA” credentials, and will work closely with our wonderful Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic, and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans.”
“Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding,” Trump added. “Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History. Congratulations to Casey!”
Secretary Kennedy looks forward to working with Dr. Janette Nesheiwat in another capacity at HHS. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
