WATCH: Elon Musk Says X Outage Caused by Cyber Attack from Ukrainian IP Addresses

X owner Elon Musk has said that a series of outages on the social media platform resulted from a “massive cyberattack” traced to IP addresses in Ukraine.

The outages began early Monday morning and continued throughout the day.

According to Downdetector.com, reports of X outages went up at multiple points throughout the day. The first outage occurred around 5:30 a.m., followed by disruptions at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Musk said the incident was a coordinated attack, that had to have been conducted by “a large group and/or a country” with significant resources. He added that they were tracing the attacks.

“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X,” Musk wrote.

The tech billionaire continued, “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”

“Tracing…” Musk’s post concluded.

In an interview with Fox Business later in the day, Musk said that the attack’s IP addresses were linked to Ukraine, but he had not provided additional details by the time this article was written.

“There was a massive cyberattack to try and bring down X with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area,” Musk said.
