Senate Confirms John Ratcliffe as Trump’s CIA Director, Marking Second Trump Cabinet Approval

Former DNI John Ratcliffe was confirmed as CIA Director on Thursday. He is a longtime Trump loyalist.

The Senate confirmed John Ratcliffe as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on Thursday, with a 74-25 vote.

Ratcliffe, who previously served as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) during President Donald Trump’s first term, becomes the first individual to have held both pivotal intelligence positions.

Ratcliffe’s confirmation marks the second Cabinet member approved in President Trump’s new administration, following the unanimous confirmation of Marco Rubio as Secretary of State earlier this week.

Recall that during his confirmation hearing, former DNI Ratcliffe ripped newly-elected Democrat Senator Adam Schiff (CA) as he faced questions from senators.

Ratcliffe called out Schiff for lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“In 2020, when a chairman of an intelligence committee misrepresented that a laptop owned by then candidate Biden’s son was somehow a Russian intelligence operation… I stood in the breach. I stood alone and told the American people the truth about that,” Ratcliffe said to Schiff, who previously served as the House Intel Chairman.
