As Jim Hoft reported earlier, President Trump’s nominee for Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, sat before the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee Friday morning at 9 AM Eastern.
Noem is the Governor of South Dakota, a position she has held since 2019. Before that, Noem was a popular US House of Representatives member.
While Noem’s questioning has been far more professional compared to that of Defense Secretary Nominee Pete Hegseth and Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi, Senator Andy Kim (D-N.J.) proved completely unprepared for questioning and was promptly embarrassed.
Senator Andy Kim (D-N.J.) began questioning Noem by asking a stupid question: he cited President Trump’s appointment of Tom Homan as Border czar and asked who would be in charge of the nation’s borders.
Any senator should know that the President, under the Constitution, has ultimate authority over the United States’ national security, including the borders of America.
Noem promptly clarified this basic fact for Kim, who said he thought this was the answer he would have given. But he then said he got ‘confused’ and reiterated that Trump appointed Homan to carry out border enforcement.
Noem again reminded him that Trump is in charge of border security. Because of this, Homan and Noem work under Trump and will carry out his directives.
How embarrassing.

Kim proceeded to go on a long screed regarding Homan’s supposed role and continued to express concern that he would take away some of her responsibilities. She responded that she would work well with Homan under President Trump.
If this is what is in store for New Jersey over the next six years, The Garden State may live to regret electing Kim.
