DOGE Heads Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy Highlight 1,547 pages in Continuing Resolution, Which Gives 40% Pay Increase to Congressmen – Musk Says “This Bill Should Not Pass”

DOGE heads Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill – December 5, 2024

Department of Government Efficiency co-heads Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy highlighted the continuing resolution expected to be voted upon in the House and Senate this week before Congress recesses for Christmas.

President Trump announced last month that Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the external advisory committee, DOGE, which will “provide advice and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large scale structural reform, and create an entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before.” Trump has said that the two will cut as much as $2 trillion in wasteful government spending annually.

Vivek Ramaswamy said on X, “Currently reading the 1,547-page bill to fund the government through mid-March. Expecting every U.S. Congressman & Senator to do the same.”

Members of Congress aren’t even going to have time to read the bill before voting on it.

DOGE Co-head Elon Musk reposted Ramaswamy’s post, adding, “This bill should not pass.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said she’s a “Hard NO!!”

Musk further pointed out that the continuing resolution includes a 40% pay increase to nearly a quarter million dollars per year for members of Congress.

How can this be called a “continuing resolution” if it includes a 40% pay increase for Congress? https://t.co/qFFUP0eUOH

Others, including Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton, noted that the CR will also allow members of Congress to swap out their Obamacare insurance plans for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). Per Punchbowl News, “Under the Affordable Care Act, lawmakers and some designated staff are required to use an Obamacare exchange instead of the FEHBP.”

“Rules for thee…” said Fitton.

This bill clearly puts the Swamp first, not everyday Americans.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Republican House leadership caved on a bipartisan continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown and “keep spending money out the wazoo for another three months,” said Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). “The problem that goes with it, of course, is that we have a structural deficit that keeps a mounting national debt going,” Biggs continued.

‘A Total Dumpster Fire’: Conservatives Furious as GOP Leadership Strikes Deal on Massive Spending Bill

GOP Rep. and House Freedom Caucus member Eric Burlison (MO) said, “It’s a total dumpster fire. I think it’s garbage.”

Many conservative House members are furious that Speaker Mike Johnson has caved once again and agreed to increase the national deficit.

Rep. Nancy Mace slammed her colleagues in an X post, saying, “We do this every year … the manufactured ‘government shutdown’ crisis so everyone can get everything into an omnibus or continuing resolution and taking us further into debt.”
